Obituary for Gilbert Joseph Huber

Gilbert Joseph Huber, son of Bernard J. and Margorie E. Warren Huber, was born, October 7, 1932 in Teutopolis, Illinois. He departed this life, Tuesday, January 8, 2019, in Colonial Springs Healthcare Center, Buffalo, Missouri at the age of eighty-six years, three months and one day.

On November 10, 1953 in Danville, Illinois he was united in marriage to Shirley Ann Brown and to this union five children were born. She preceded him in death on March 9, 2006 and together they had shared fifty-three years of marriage.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shirley; his two sons, Matthew Huber and David Huber; eight brothers and three sisters.

Survivors include his children, Tamie Eidson and husband Jessie of Urbana, Missouri, Candy Cartwright and husband Chuck of North Vernon, Indiana and Mark Huber of Urbana, Missouri; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jack Huber and wife Betty of Yale, Illinois and Bobby Joe Huber of Rosehill, North Carolina; a sister, Ethel Dhom of Newton, Illinois and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Gilbert was born and raised in Illinois. He was in the United States Navy during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged. He moved his family to Bryant, Texas where he worked in the oil fields. He received his Master Electrician License and owned and operated his own business. He sold his business and retired and followed his daughter Tamie to Missouri where he made it his home for the rest of his days.
Gilbert was baptized into the Catholic faith and was a member of St. Anthony in Newton, Illinois

In his spare time, Gilbert treasured spending time with his family and friends. He would help anyone that was in need. He was a lifetime member of the VFW and IBEW. He had a passion for apple pies. You could find him at the Coffee Cup Restaurant giving the waitresses a hard time. You always knew that when he got that gleam in his eyes and that smirky smile to be ready for the world according to Gilbert.

He was a loving dad, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and are blessed with the many memories he created for his family and friends.

It was Gilbert wishes that there be no services held.
