Born in Camdenton on December 21st, 1933, he was the son of the late Charles F. Huddleston and Elizabeth Collins Huddleston. Charles grew up in Kansas City and Camdenton, often spending time with his paternal grandmother on the family farm in Linn Creek. While living with his maternal grandparents, he attended high school in Waynesville, and was graduated from Camdenton High School. He attended Drury College (now Drury University) in Springfield, later earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Minnesota. Charles served in the US Navy for several years, stationed in Bremerton, Washington. In 1957, he married Helen Dahlin, of Minnesota. During their 35 year marriage he and his family lived and made homes in Minnesota, Oklahoma, New Jersey and finally, Pennsylvania.

Throughout his life, Charles was very active in the churches he attended. He sang in church choirs, served on church councils and boards and as a lay minister and elder. Charles worked throughout much of his life as a salesman, working for Shell Oil and 3M, for several different educational products companies and as a car salesman and real estate agent in Eastern Pennsylvania.

In later years, Charles lived in Florida before returning to Linn Creek. He was married to Billie Mae Hicks from 1998 to 2014. He was a member of Community Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and a volunteer at Lake Regional Hospital.

Charles was preceded in death by his daughter Sarah and great-granddaughter Emma Butcher. He is survived by his sisters, Mary Tabacchi Rogers of Ithaca, New York, and Lillian Wright of London, England; his daughter Martha, of New Jersey and son John Charles of Pennsylvania; and 17 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.
